He has taken in charge of some research topics including the research on the method of obtaining high uniformity slow extraction beam by RF-KO in the high energy heavy ion synchrotron accelerator, the study on the key technology of slow extraction in the heavy ion therapy for cancer, the study on time structure of slow extraction beam from heavy ion synchrotron accelerator, and the physical optimization design and key technology research of superconducting heavy ion accelerator. These research results fill the gap in relevant fields in China, and improve the ability of independent innovation and boost a batch of major technological innovations in medical accelerator technology.

He has been awarded the “China Excellent Patent Award in 2014”, the “Special Award for Young Scientific and Technological Talents of Institute of Modern Physics in 2018”, the “Promotion and Development Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences”, and the Gansu Youth May 4th Medal in 2020, the Special Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Gansu Province and other honors.

He has been engaged in the manufacturing of products related to accelerators, installation of large scientific devices, research and management of collimation measurement technology. He participated in the collimation installation of ADS superconducting linear accelerator of the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was responsible for the production of fast pulse diode magnet, fast pulse quadrupole magnet and RFQ for the intense beam heavy ion accelerator of the national major scientific and technological infrastructure during the “12th Five-Year Plan”, the production and installation of 300MeV proton accelerator magnet for space environment ground simulator. Currently, he takes in charge of the responsible for the production, installation and management of various products of the company.

Yang has developed the production standard of electromagnet in the beam line of carbon ion therapy system with others, thus making the production of such device in a more normalized, standard and lean manner. He has led the team to independently develop the manufacturing process of vacuum and beam diagnosis components of medical heavy ion accelerator. He was responsible for the manufacturing process research of CCT and DCT superconducting magnet, RFQ and superconducting niobium cavity within the company, providing a large amount of technical reserve for the miniaturization development of medical accelerator. He worked as the principal of beam collimation system of high-current heavy ion accelerator, developed the first set of beam collimation system hardware and dynamic vacuum system in China to measure the desorption rate of vacuum cavity materials, which filled the blank of material data in dynamic vacuum field at home and abroad.

He developed the physical control system of heavy ion medical accelerator to control and operate the accelerator remotely. Currently, he is responsible for the R&D, design and construction of the control system of the medical accelerator, as well as the design of the remote operation and maintenance center and big data center of the device.
